Image Compressor: Reduce Image Size Online
Use this image compressor when a photo is too heavy for a form, an email or a web page. Pick a quality level, or type the size you need in KB and the tool finds the best quality that fits. The work is done by your browser, so the picture is never sent anywhere.

How to compress an image
- 1Choose a JPG, PNG or WEBP image, or drop it on the upload box.
- 2Move the quality slider, or enter a target size such as 100 KB.
- 3Press Compress and download. The result is saved as a JPG.
Compress to an exact size
Many upload forms ask for a photo under 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. Enter that number and the compressor lowers the quality step by step, and shrinks the dimensions only if quality alone is not enough.
What quality should I pick?
For photos, 60 to 80 percent usually looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Below 40 percent you start to see blocky areas, especially around text and sharp edges.
PNG and transparency
The compressed file is a JPG, and JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas of a PNG are filled with white. If you need to keep transparency, resize the image instead of compressing it.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I compress an image to 100 KB?
- Upload the image, type 100 in the target size box and press Compress. The tool tries lower quality levels until the file is at or under 100 KB, then downloads it.
- Does compressing reduce image quality?
- JPG compression removes detail the eye barely notices. At 60 to 80 percent quality the difference is hard to spot. Very small targets need stronger compression and the loss becomes visible.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. The image is read and compressed by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, which also means there is no file size queue and no daily limit.
