Image Upscaler: Enlarge an Image 2x Online
This tool doubles the pixel dimensions of an image, so a 600 × 400 picture becomes 1200 × 800. It uses high-quality smoothing to avoid jagged edges. It is useful when a website or printer asks for a minimum resolution your image does not meet.

How to upscale an image
- 1Choose the image you want to enlarge.
- 2Press Upscale 2x and download.
- 3The new file has twice the width and twice the height of the original.
What to expect
Upscaling adds pixels but cannot invent detail that was never captured. The enlarged image is smooth rather than blocky, and works well for prints, slides and profile pictures. A very blurry original will still look soft.
Output format
JPG photos are saved as JPG. PNG, WEBP and GIF images are saved as PNG so that transparency is kept.
Need a specific size instead?
If you need exact pixel dimensions rather than a straight 2x enlargement, use the Resize Image tool and type the width and height you want.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I increase the resolution of an image?
- Upload it here and press Upscale 2x. The tool resamples the picture to double its width and height and downloads the larger file.
- Is there a size limit?
- The result has four times as many pixels as the original, so very large photos can exceed what a browser canvas can hold. If that happens the tool tells you, and you can use Resize Image for a smaller enlargement.
- Can I upscale more than 2x?
- Run the result through the tool a second time for 4x. Each pass softens the image a little more, so 2x gives the cleanest result.
